A Palliative Journey (Non-CE Course)

This course reviews the differences between palliative and hospice care, provides an overview of the Palliative Care Act and advance directives, and discusses communication, conversations, and information on palliative care patient referrals.

Roxanne O'Brien started her nursing career in New York City 30+ years ago. She spent her first 17 years at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center as a clinical nurse in ambulatory care. When she moved to the Bronx with her family, she transitioned to hospice and palliative care as a visiting nurse. O'Brien joined Montefiore Medical Center for the opportunity to join fellow palliative enthusiasts from across the organization's campuses in growing palliative care services for the community. She has spent the past several years as the program manager for palliative care in Montefiore's Home Care Division.
