Caring in the Patient with Cancer: The Role of the Nursing Assistant presented by Bronwyn Long, RN, DNP, ACHPN, AOCNS. This presentation is designed to help nursing assistants understand the disease progression of cancer, and to recognize cancer symptoms and changes in the patient resulting from cancer that should be reported to the hospice team. Ten symptoms that are often seen in cancer patients are discussed. Then, ten oncologic emergencies are described to help the nursing assistant recognize when an oncologic emergency may be taking place and report the situation to the hospice team.
