NA - Professional Boundaries

NA - Professional Boundaries
Professional Boundaries for the Nursing Assistant presented by Marlene Foreman, BSN, MN, ACNS-BC, ACHPN. Knowing your professional boundaries is especially important for a Nursing Assistant working in Hospice and/or Palliative Care. In this field, you do often develop a relationship with those you care for, but the relationship needs to be maintained as a professional relationship. In this presentation, Marlene reviews what those boundaries consist of and provides tips on how to ensure you don't cross or blur the boundary lines between professional and personal when you are working with a patient and their family caregivers. Examples are provided of both appropriate boundaries, and things that would be considered crossing the boundary lines. A case study and additional questions to ponder are included as part of this presentation.
