NA - Communicating with the Seriously Ill and Dying Patient
Communicating with the Seriously Ill and Dying Patient presented by Marilyn Graves, MSN, RN, CWOCN, CHPN. In this presentation, Marilyn discusses communication with both patients and their families. She goes over how to be prepared for communication and important things to consider before having a conversation. She gives tips on how communicate effectively, which will help to improve the communication between you and the patient. She also provides suggestions of things that you can say to the patient to help the patient more comfortable and make care more effective. When you care for a patient, you are not just caring for their physical needs. Effective communication will help you care for their mental needs, emotional needs, and help to direct your care to where the patient is most in need.
