This instructor-led certification review course is designed to help prepare you for your upcoming Hospice and Palliative Credentialing Center (HPCC) CHPN® certification exam.
HPNA Certification Review Courses provide a framework to prepare, and a process to assess strengths and weaknesses of content prior to sitting for an HPCC certification exam. These courses are facilitated by nationally recognized subject matter experts.
Each module in the review course addresses sections of the current CHPN® Detailed Content Outline.

This is a virtual event. Registered learners will receive course access information and materials to their HPNA associated email address 3-5 days prior to May 8.
HPCC is not able to conduct or recommend specific review courses. The use of HPNA exam preparation materials does not imply successful performance on HPCC certification exams. The use of HPNA exam preparation materials does not give an advantage over candidates who do not choose to use them.
Continuing Education
Attendees can earn a maximum of 8.75 NCPD Contact Hours and 4.0 Category 1 Pharm credits upon successful completion of this course. Successful completion includes attending the activity in its entirety, attesting to attendance, and completing/submitting the post-activity evaluation within the timeframe specified.
Hospice and Palliative Nurses Association is accredited as a provider of Nursing Continuing Professional Development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. The faculty and planners of this accredited Continuing Professional Development Activity have disclosed no relevant financial, professional, or personal relationships with ineligible companies pertaining to the faculty selection, delivery, and evaluation of this activity.
Faculty
Cara Dials, RN, BSN, MSN, APRN, FNP-C, ACHPN®
Cara earned her undergraduate and graduate degrees from Marshall University. She has worked for multiple hospice and palliative agencies across West Virginia, Ohio, Kentucky, and Virginia, and is currently employed by WellBe Senior Medical. She has traveled more than 200,000 miles since 2015 to meet patients wherever they call home. She has worked in two rural, long-term care facilities as well as two small community hospitals, performing inpatient ICU consults. She is an ethics nerd and joined the West Virginia Network of Ethics and Law nine years ago.
Cara married her high school sweetheart, Kevin, 19 years ago and their two sons, Connor and Keegan, are now teenagers. Their ‘critters’ are rescued and meeting new dogs every day is her favorite part of the job. She lives for Marshall sports, Kansas City football, and women’s college gymnastics. Cara enjoys sharing margaritas with girlfriends, reading mystery or romance novels, listening to Tyler Childers music, and watching Will & Grace reruns.
Rose Odom, PhD, MA, BSN, RN, CHPN®
Rose Odom has more than 25 years of experience as a nurse with 18 years in hospice and palliative care. She currently works for a hospital system in Houston, Texas as the Nurse Coordinator on the palliative care team. Rose has a PhD in nursing and a master’s degree in counseling. Rose’s passion is education, and declares her calling is end of life care. She enjoys providing education to nursing peers as well as the community at large and participates in various community events to promote health and wellness. Her hobbies include cooking and crafting.
Cancellation Policy
Registrations that are cancelled in writing up to three weeks prior to the event will be refunded minus a $50 administrative fee. Cancellations received less than one week prior to the event will not be refunded. Please contact the HPNA Education Department regarding cancellations. Cancellations requests must be received in writing.
